1. Overview

AI Chat Highlights is a browser extension that helps users save and manage selected text from supported AI conversations.

This extension is designed to work primarily with data that the user explicitly selects or creates while using supported AI chat products. At the time of this policy update, the current version supports ChatGPT pages.

2. What Data the Extension Handles

The extension may process the following information:

• text the user explicitly selects on supported ChatGPT pages
• nearby context around the selected text
• conversation identifiers, message identifiers, page URLs, and conversation titles needed to restore and revisit saved highlights
• user-created tags
• local settings such as theme, language, and default highlight color

3. How the Data Is Used

The extension uses this information only to provide its core features, including:

• saving highlights
• restoring highlights on supported ChatGPT pages
• searching and filtering saved highlights
• jumping back to the source conversation
• exporting highlights to user-requested files such as Markdown or JSON

4. Storage

By default, saved highlights and related settings are stored locally in the user's browser.

At the time of this policy update, the extension does not require a remote backend to provide its core highlight management features.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

We do not share user-selected highlight content with third parties for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage purposes.

6. Data Transmission

At the time of this policy update, the extension does not send saved highlight content to a developer-operated remote server as part of its normal core workflow.

If a future version introduces cloud sync, remote processing, analytics, or third-party integrations that affect user data, this policy will be updated before those features are released.

7. User Control

Users control what is saved by choosing the text they want to highlight. Users can also delete saved highlights from the extension UI and export their own data.

9. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. The latest version should always be made available from the extension listing or the developer website.
